About Seacost Women's Week

Seacoast Women's Week (SWW) is an all volunteer effort celebrating International Women's Day by acknowledging women in our communities. These women juggle home, professional and personal lives for the good of their families and communities. They volunteer to ensure that our civic, social service and religious organizations are there when needed. They take pride in their heritage and diversity and make choices that define who they are. Seacoast Women's Week encourages women to "take time off" from home, the office and care-giving to relax and learn in an atmosphere of collegiality and support.

Keynote Speaker: Rev. Mary Westfall

9:15-10:00 AM

Positively You!

We either make ourselves happy or miserable in life. The amount of work is the same. – Carlos Castenada

Why is it that some people seem to carry a kind of joyful confidence? How does one stay positive and hopeful in the midst of difficult or challenging circumstances? Each day is filled with countless gifts – the beauty of the sunrise, the brightness of a child's eyes, moments of laughter with a friend and likewise each day is filled with numerous challenges – illness, relationship difficulties, the stress of juggling too much. This presentation will provide an opportunity to re-examine what kind of awareness and attitude one brings to these situations and how to cultivate practices that will facilitate a more positive and resilient outlook. Despite external circumstances there is a way to find deep inner peace and a true sense of joy. Come and rediscover what it means to be positively you!

The Rev. Dr. Mary E. Westfall currently serves as Senior Minister with the Community Church of Durham, United Church of Christ, where she has been for 12 years.
