HOW WE WORK

Womenaid funds reach people in need through Community Validators, individuals or organizations (such as social service providers, clergy and teachers) who verify the needs of people seeking assistance and submit requests on their behalf. Validators give us the information we need to determine if Womenaid is the appropriate source of assistance.  We then vote as a Board on that request.  If approved, we pay the service provider or vendor directly.

WHO

We do not give directly to individuals, we work through Community Validators. We pay directly to the service provider (e.g., utility company, garage, landlord, etc.)

WHAT

We provide up to $1000 in short-term financial assistance for needs that cannot be met by other community resources.

WHERE

We accept requests for individuals/families who live in our target area, including Portsmouth, Greenland, New Castle, Rye and Newington, NH and Kittery, ME. In

addition, we will accept requests on behalf of unsheltered individuals who are receiving services in our target area.

WHEN

We are not a source of emergency funding. We are an all-volunteer group, and our goal is to review a completed request within 2 business days. If approved, payment is made by check or credit card usually within 3 business days.

NOTE: If a request is paid by check, it is sent by mail, please be aware that it can take anywhere from 3-14 days for payment to reach the vendor.

HOW

A qualified validator who knows the clients submits a request.
